In order to control the spread of corona virus infections the Japanese government has extended the state of emergency covering Tokyo and other regions until 7 March.  The Japan Exhibition Association has promulgated rigorous guidelines under which trade shows can be safely held in the current environment. Therefore, and with the understanding and cooperation of other related organizations, we have declared our position regarding the holding of exhibitions with the following joint statement:

Trade shows and exhibitions play a vital role in economy activity, promoting the exchange of products, technology and information. They provide a platform for people to meet, get to know each other and hold business talks. Today, when the pandemic is threatening economic vitality, trade shows and exhibitions are more important than ever, in particular for small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs) that rely on them for their business. But the Covid-19 pandemic, which has been spreading throughout the world since March 2020, has forced the cancellation or downsizing of numerous events.

We herewith announce that we will be holding events in line with the guidelines we have formulated to ensure a safe, secure environment, in order to promote the creation of events that play a role as a basic component of the economy.

We will do everything possible to hold scheduled events, respecting the instructions of the Japanese government and local bodies and under the guidance of medical authorities. However, if the authorities recommend that an event be cancelled or postponed in view of spreading Covid-19 infections, we will comply with the recommendation issued.

We offer our heartfelt thanks to the medical professionals, central government authorities and local government bodies working diligently on infection control measures to contain the Covid-19 virus.
